Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, also known professionally under the other name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist to sign to J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. On the 21st of October, 2016, she released Pho, her first EP for the Dreamville Records label. This was when she first gained the attention of her peers. Her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her tracks to the Internet in 2012, when she released her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. She continued to upload her songs online throughout 2014 and released her own single Bound. Sweat It is part of Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21, 2015. The following year, her music began to circulate around the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some potential references to Rihanna. On the 8th of December, it was announced that she was signed to Dreamville Records. In the record Revenge of the Dreamers II, she appeared on the track Backseat alongside Cozz. On October 21, 2016 her EP Pho was released. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performance for J. Cole on his song Change in 2017 and also performed on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. She also appeared on the songs Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus with Bas, her labelmates. Ari Lennox dropped her first song Whipped Cream on Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. A music video followed then followed by a short video in September. Then on the 9th of November, she released another two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). Then, in November 2013, she dropped No One and Pedigree. Then she appeared on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on the track Shea Butter Baby on November 16 and released as a single on February 26, 2019, for her debut album the same title. In February of 2019 the video music for this track debuted. The song has received more than 3 million YouTube views in just one week. She was the supporting act for 6LACK in their From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
